Privacy Policy

Sliver doesn't collect the addresses of the sites you visit, your searches, or the content of the pages you open. Your login sessions, bookmarks and settings stay on your Mac.

This policy covers the Sliver app (the Mac App Store version and the direct download version from this website) and this website, slivermac.app.

The Sliver app does not collect or send any of the following:

• The addresses (URLs) of the sites you visit, your browsing history, your search terms, or page content
• Your location
• A name, email address or phone number entered in the app

This information is stored only on your Mac and is never sent anywhere:

• Bookmarks, shortcut assignments, appearance mode, window sizes and other app settings
• Cookies and login sessions from websites you open in the app, kept so you stay signed in, the same way a regular web browser works
• The trial start date and license details of the direct version, stored in the macOS Keychain

To improve the app, Sliver sends a small amount of anonymous usage data through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service.

• It contains only event names such as launching the app, opening a window, adding a bookmark or activating a license, plus the app and macOS version and the distribution channel (App Store or direct download).
• It contains nothing that identifies you, and no addresses, search terms or page content from the sites you visit.
• It is not used to track you across other apps or websites.

The direct download version contacts the internet for two more things:

• License checks: when you activate or deactivate a license, and about once a day, it sends your license key and your Mac's name to the license service of our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy. This is how we check how many Macs one key is used on.
• Update checks: it asks the update server whether a new version is available.

To show a bookmark's icon, Sliver uses Google's icon service. The domain of a bookmarked site may be sent to Google when it does. Sites you haven't bookmarked aren't affected.

Direct purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy. Sliver doesn't receive or store your card details, and Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy applies to what you enter at checkout. Downloads and purchases from the Mac App Store are handled by Apple.

Sliver shows the websites you choose. Those sites follow their own privacy policies, and Sliver isn't responsible for how they handle information.

Feedback form: we receive your rating, your message, the type of feedback and the language of the page, and your email address and display name only if you choose to enter them. We use them only to read and answer feedback and to improve Sliver. Feedback is stored in a database and also delivered to us through a private notification that only the operator sees.

Permission to publish: only if you tick "You may show this feedback on the site" may we publish your rating, message and display name after reviewing it. We never publish your email address.

Cookies: only a language cookie (up to one year) and an anonymous random ID cookie so a like or dislike on a public review counts once per browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Visit statistics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate numbers only, such as page views, where visitors came from (the previous page), country, and browser or device type. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify or track individual visitors.

Abuse prevention: when you like or dislike a review, we store a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself, to limit repeated votes.

Hosting: this website and its database run on Cloudflare.

Deleting the app removes the bookmarks, settings and website data stored on your Mac.

We keep feedback until we delete it. To have yours deleted, email us at the address below.
